Extreme Makeover Home Edition: Tie Dye Butterfly Room, Marshall Family

"On ABC November 29, 2009, Ty Pennington and his design team travel to Lyme, New Hampshire to build a new Extreme Makeover Home Edition home for the Marshall Family. After moving into their home six years ago, Jay and Elena Marshall discovered carbon monoxide leaks and rotting wood. About the same time, their six year-old son, Cameron, was diagnosed with leukemia. The Marshalls established the B+ (Be Positive) Campaign to raise money and help other families handle the emotional and financial challenges created by long-term hospitalization and chronic illness. As Jay and Elena and their eight children head to Walt Disney World, Ty and the team are joined by celebrity guest Patrick Dempsey (Grey’s Anatomy) for the week…
Ty, Michael, Eduardo, Paige and the Vitales family, who had their home made over two years ago, head toward the Marshall home in Lyme. They watch video of the Marshall kids explaining how they feel about their brother Cameron having leukemia. Ty describes how the family has organized fundraising activities to give back. Ty says Cameron’s cancer is currently in remission, but the house is not safe for him to recover in due to the mold.
Door Knock Day
“Good morning Marshall family,” bellows Ty through the megaphone, and the big, excited family rush out to greet the bus! Ty tells them that they will spend the week in Walt Disney World while their new home is built.
Ty visits Cameron’s room with him, and discovers that he’s into sports. In the girls’ room, Paige and Eduardo spot a penchant for tie-dye, and Little House on the Prairie. The eldest daughter’s room is in a closet - she is a huge fan of Grey’s Anatomy.
As Ty speaks to Jay and Elena about a day in the hospital when they thought they had lost Cameron (his medication had made him catatonic), I am brought to tears, as is Ty Pennington. They explain how this experience led them to give back.
The family witnesses the sea of volunteers, meet the builders from Trumbull-Nelson Construction, and receive a mystery gift from Ty before heading out in the limo for their trip.
In honor of the Marshall family’s love of extreme sports an extreme demolition of their home is held!

Ty and Paige visit the children at Dartmouth Children’s Hospital (CHAD) where Cameron spent time, and they contact the Marshalls from there. The family learns that Hallmark has donated $50,000 to his B+ Campaign!
Ty receives some ’sick’ items for his secret room from a mystery person named Adam. The ceilings in the house reach a new height - thirty feet - and Michael heads home with the Vitales who have something they would like to contribute to the Marshalls house - some of their Angel Boy paintings. As it turns out, the Marshalls were volunteers when the Vitales home was built two years ago - so cool!
It’s time for the Marshall’s to open their mystery gift in Walt Disney World - it’s a B+ t-shirt - and all the volunteers, as well as people at Walt Disney World are wearing them too! Two simultaneous walks are held on the spot, and Ty announces over $25,000 raised!
As a surprise for the family, they are taken to meet Patrick Dempsey from Grey’s Anatomy! The oldest daughter screams intensely! Cameron eats clam chowder with Patrick.
Before long, the house is completed and the furniture is on its way inside, however, not all the tiling is done, so Michael is charged with meeting the family and taking them to Sears to buy new clothes to buy time!
When the Marshalls finally pull up beside the bus, the crowd goes wild. “Move that bus,” is chanted loudly. The family is completely overwhelmed by the sight of their new home.

The Vitales come forward to meet the Marshalls, and Ty says Walt Disney World has offered them a vacation as they didn’t get one when their house was built! Ty then tells the Marshalls to check out the house!
Elena feels the new house is like a dream - tons of screaming ensues as Ty comes in and asks what they think of their new home. He points out the Angel Boy paintings, and makes note of the air cleaning system they installed.

The youngest girls have prairie wagon beds in their room, the next two girls have a colorful room filled with butterflies and tie-dye, the eldest daughter has her own proper room (not a closet) and she and Ty scream into each other’s faces when he comes in. The boys love their sports themed room - especially the B+ walls and the skateboards all over the place.
In the restful, exquisite master bedroom, Jay and Elena embrace. Ty then gathers the family and says he got in touch with a fellow New Hampshirite - Adam Sandler! He tells them to go check out his new closet - it’s full of signed hockey sticks! Adam jokes about how he presumed they would like his autograph on everything! He compliments Cameron for being brave and changing a tragic situation into a positive.
Ty herds everyone outside to play a game of hockey in the over-sized driveway. He ends with, “Welcome home, Marshall family, welcome home!”"

Butterfly Decorations For Extreme Makeover Home Edition Marshall Family Lyme NH

Butterfly Decorations Were Featured On Extreme Makeover Home Edition, Episode 711, November 29, 2009: Marshall Family Lyme NH

Bugs-n-Blooms Hanging Butterflies were used to decorate 5 year old Kristina and 3 year old Rylie's Tie Dye Butterfly Room

LYME, N.H. -- After weeks of waiting, New Hampshire finally got to see the final product of a Lyme family's Extereme Home Makeover Sunday night. The Marshall family is ecstatic with their new home, and enjoyed as the rooms were revealed in Sunday's Extreme Makeover episode. Sunday night, the Marshall family spent the big reveal with the community that helped make it all possible. Like all homes on the ABC show, the Marshalls' house was built in just a week, with help from thousands of volunteers. "It's like nothing else, so it's exciting, hard at times and emotional, for sure," said father Jay Marshall. "So, there was a roller coaster of excitement, of curiosity and, you know, all ending with an incredible feeling of gratitude." "My thoughts were, 'Oh, my gosh. I can't believe this is actually happening,'" said 10-year-old Cameron Marshall. "And all those people came out to support us and build a house for us. It was really cool." While the Marshalls were sent away on vacation, their old, mold-infested house was torn down. The new home is expected to be healthier for Cameron, who has leukemia. The construction took place as the cameras rolled and the show's famous designers made appearances. Only the Marshalls and the volunteers knew what the inside looks like. The oldest of the eight Marshall children said he's enjoying getting to know their new home. "You know, you walk in, and it just might not feel like home quite yet, but there is plenty of room for all of us, and we can do absolutely whatever we want in there," said Beau Marshall, 18. "The way it's designed, it feels so open." "I think, for me, it just confirms that prayers are answered," said mother Elena Marshall. "God has been so good to us, and I am just so thankful, and miracles still happen every single day."

Family Thanks Community For 'Extreme Makeover' Home

The Marshall family, of Lyme, is settling into their new home, which was built by volunteers and craftsmen for the ABC show "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition."

For the first time since getting their new home, the Marshalls spoke Tuesday about the outpouring of help from volunteers and how their time away from New Hampshire helped them come together."

The bus moved, and probably if you had pinched me, I wouldn't have felt it because it wasn't real," said mother Elena Marshall. "It was so amazing."For all the excitement of getting a new home, the Marshalls said they slept soundly in New Hampshire, exhausted from a Walt Disney World visit the show provided.

"For the whole family to be in the same place, watching fireworks at Disney, that's special," said father Jay Marshall.

"It was so wonderful," Elena Marshall said. "There were ups there, were downs, but it was an experience we haven't had an opportunity to have.

"The gifts kept on coming for the Marshalls, including new bikes and ski passes to New Hampshire resorts. A huge poster put together by children in Lyme got an emotional reaction from Elena Marshall, who whispered that it was "beautiful.

"Photos also now show the moment when the Marshalls got a chance to meet actor Patrick Dempsey. Daughter Olivia now has a picture of him placed next to her new bed.

"I saw that," she said. "Sweet dreams tonight."But for everything they received, the family said they wished they could have chipped in with the project. Son Beau Marshall said he hoped the outpouring of generosity would inspire others.

"You tell one or two people about it, and hopefully then they'll do the same thing, and eventually it spreads throughout the world," he said. The Be+ charity (pronounced "Be Positive") also benefited from the show. The fund was started by son Cameron Marshall to raise money for Children's Hospital at Dartmouth. Donations raised in the past week totaled more than $77,000.

Bugs-n-Blooms Participates In Extreme Makeover Home Edition Press Release

Bugs-n-Blooms.com Chosen to Participate in an Upcoming Episode of ABC's "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition"

Texas-based room décor company Bugs-n-Blooms, LLC helps a family in need

Prosper, TX – November 03, 2009 – Bugs-n-Blooms.com is excited to announce they were a proud participant of ABC’s “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition”, to help an inspirational family in Lyme, NH.

Six years ago Jay and Elena Marshall purchased what they thought was going to be their perfect home. Dreams for adding on to the home came to a halt after they discovered carbon monoxide leaks, mold and rotting wood. Before they could begin tackling the onslaught of problems with their home, their 9-year old son was diagnosed with Leukemia. Despite the mounting medical bills and the looming dangers within their home, the Marshall family came together and rallied their community behind their son’s “Be Positive” campaign. The “Be Positive” campaign, named after Cameron’s blood type, has already brought in around $40,000 for the Children’s Hospital at Darthmoth and Leukemia awareness, including $3,500 Cameron raised on his own.

"It was an honor to be asked to supply my handcrafted items to this well-deserving family," says Jennifer DeVol, owner of Bugs-n-Blooms. "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" provides safe and healthy homes for many families who face hardships but still find ways to help others, whether they be family or community members.  We provided the show with approximately 35 pieces for their designers to choose from.” DeVol adds, “It will be interesting to see how they use our products because they are so versatile. They can be hung on walls, from ceilings, used on lamps, bedposts and mirrors. Our products are lightweight, easy to pose and add color and sparkle to any little girls room.”

The episode featuring products from Bugs-n-Blooms will air Sunday, November 29, 2009 at 8/7c.  Please check your local listings for exact times.  You are able to find all the products provided by visiting www.bugs-n-blooms.com.

The Emmy award winning reality program “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition,” now in its 7th season, is produced by Endemol USA, a division of Endemol Holding. It’s executive-produced by Anthony Dominici. David Goldberg is Chairman, Endemol North America. The show airs Sundays from 8:00-9:00 p.m., ET on ABC.

Bugs-n-Blooms Butterfly Hanging Decorations Review

A wonderful review about Bugs-n-Blooms that was written by Tammi, Canada .....

As a Mom of girls, I have always enjoyed decorating their room. Stemming from my own childhood wishes {I still want that canopy bed!}, I can re-live the world of fairies and fairy tales through my kids. A few times I wondered if I should start keeping their decor simple and modern, but frilly and pretty has been too much fun. After all, it's the magic of being a young girl!

Bugs-n-Blooms is an online shop that caters to the little girl in your life, with versatile room decor and more. My girls received an assortment of items from Bugs-n-Blooms, all of them inspired by make-believe and imagination.

First, I must say that these items are made to last with high-quality materials with precise and fine detail. In fact, all of the items are designed by them, and are copyrighted. The bugs and flowers I received are all made with strong nylon, in vibrant colors. There are no loose strings, stray threads, nor imperfections. The lovely details that make them beautiful come in sequins, crystals, jewels, beads, ribbons, and glitter. And, if you think that there is 'just a butterfly' for instance, you are mistaken. There is endless choice in colors, sizes, layers, embellishments, and tones. For this reason, I like Bugs-n-Blooms as you can customize room decor to suit your exact liking.

Bugs-n-Blooms also has fabulous Curtain Tiebacks, and we received a yellow flower and a red ladybug. They are very colorful and fun, and certainly put some life into the kids' drab curtains. Glitter and ribbons adorn the bugs, and the bendable wire hangers allow for use with any type of curtain.

One of my favorite items is the Pink Hanging Butterfly Mobile. Each butterfly is embellished so that is dances in the sunlight. The wings are layered to add dimension and movement. Thick and strong fishing line is used to ensure that it lasts {and so it doesn't tangle}. This mobile hangs in the twins rooms, and every time they see it they 'ohhh' & "ahh', giggle & laugh. If I blow in the air and make the butterflies dance, they try to blow as well, swaying with them.

The girls also got a mix of mini bugs and mini flowers to adorn their walls or hang from the ceiling. I have one over each crib, which is nice to keep them entertained while I get breakfast ready. Plus, I had to take out their crib mobiles long ago, so this is a nice {and safe} alternative for when babies are older. I also got little mini nylon bugs, which I have added to their lamp shade and onto their bookshelf. This is nice, as it completes their room and the feel of the space.

It goes to show that the little touches make a room, and the girls sure do love their new accessories. I think Bugs-n-Blooms would also appeal to themed showers, parties and weddings! Take a look at their decorating ideas.

Use the code baby and get 10% off your entire purchase!
