Flutterby Butterfly Party

A butterfly birthday party is a perfect idea for a little girl. You can create a magical birthday party with a fun butterfly theme that she will never forget with these fun creative ideas.
Get Ready to Flutter
Begin by stocking up on all the necessary birthday party supplies – plates, napkins, balloons – all with a butterfly theme. Check your local dollar store for these supplies at a fraction of the cost of other places. Then get your invitations ready. Cut out butterfly-shaped cards the size of a post card, and let your child decorate them with stickers. Tape the actual party invitation to the back on one side, and then mail it off.
Butterfly Decorations
Draw and cut out large butterflies from poster board. Color and decorate the butterflies and hang them from the ceiling. Make large flowers to tape to the walls. Decorate the tables and walls with pastel-colored crepe paper and balloons. For a table centerpiece, fill a large vase with colorful flowers, and add tiny butterflies to the flowers. Butterfly magnets make great place holders the kids can take home.
Butterfly Party Activities
A fun activity for your butterfly birthday party would be to make coffee filter butterflies. You need a clothespin, coffee filters and markers. Have the kids color sections of the coffee filters. Spritz them with water, and the colors will run together. Let them dry, and then pinch the middle of the flat coffee filter and push it up into the clothespin so that two wings seem to puff out. Add wiggly eyes and chenille stem antennae.
You could also cut out wings that are large enough for the party guests in advance. Use paper bags, and cut wings from the large sides of the bags. Tape them together, and punch holes near where the wings meet so you can tie the wings on the children. Then, the guests can paint designs on the wings, and you can attach the wings to the children’s backs so they can fly around.
Butterfly Birthday Cake – It’s Easy to Do
Bake a round cake according to the directions on the cake mix box. Cut the cake in half. Turn the two halves around on the cookie sheet so that the round sides touch in the middle and the wider, flat edges are pointing out. You can leave it like this, or trim the rounded edges for a more triangular look. Ice the cake in pastel colors, pipe an icing body down the middle, add licorice antennae and you have a beautiful butterfly cake. Pastel-colored ice cream completes the party.
Party Food
Everyday food becomes fun when you give it a new name and add a twist. Try serving these fun foods at your butterfly party.
Butterfly Nector – Combine equal parts apricot nectar (in the juice aisle) and 7-Up. Float rainbow sherbet on top.
Butterfly Jewel Sandwiches – Make jelly sandwiches in a variety of colors. Use flavors such as grape, strawberry and peach. Remove crusts and cut in half on the diagonal. Place sandwiches on a small plate with the wide side facing out like wings. Add a baby carrot in the middle for the wings, raisins for eyes and licorice for wings. “Glue” in place with small dabs of jelly or icing.
Garden Goodies – Celery sticks, baby carrots, mini tomatoes and tiny radishes along with dip are the perfect accompaniment to this part.
Goody Bags to Go
Send the kids home with goody bags decorated with butterflies. Include items in the bag such as butterfly-shaped toys, butterfly and flower stickers or a small book on butterflies. Wrap up your party by having your child send out butterfly-themed thank-you notes.

Butterfly Birthday Party Ideas

Butterfly Invitations
You can use a large colorful picture of a butterfly for your butterfly birthday party invitations. Make photocopies and cut out the invitations. Include your party details on the butterfly wings.
The wording of your butterfly birthday invitations can say: "Butterflies are pretty and fly so free - come to (name of your child)'s 6th (7th, etc.) birthday tea. There will be games to play and wings to make. We will enjoy a butterfly cake. So dress up as pretty as you can be, and join the fun at (name of your child)'s Butterfly Tea." Then include all your butterfly birthday party details.
You can make butterfly party invitations more personal. Draw (with a help of your child) a butterfly on the front of the invitation card (make sure the butterfly is big enough). Then make color copies of your picture for the rest of the invitations. Write the above wording inside you invitations and mail.
Butterfly Decorations
You can create a special atmosphere with your butterfly party decorations.

Decorate a gate (or any other area in front of your house) with a banner "The Butterfly Birthday Party is Here!" Tie balloons (mylar butterfly balloons are best) to pinwheels, and then stick the pinwheels in the ground by the walkway leading to your house. Have colorful paper streamers everywhere around your backyard.

Hang nylon butterflies on strings from the ceiling inside the house. Place any butterfly related toys (e.g. flowers, bugs, etc.) around the butterfly birthday party area. Attach butterfly posters to the walls for colorful effect.
Cover your table with table cover with mini butterflies on it. You can attach colorful ribbons to flower pots, and have one or two of them for table centerpiece.
Tie a large butterfly mylar balloon to birthday child's seat. Make a huge banner "Happy Birthday (Your child's name)!", and hang it by the table area.
Butterfly Favors
For your butterfly party favors you can have such items as butterfly stickers, bean bags, butterfly hair clips, sunglasses, toy butterflies, flower seeds, gummy caterpillars, and butterfly shaped rings.

If your butterfly birthday party is strictly for the girls - then you can give out butterfly costumes which includes a pair butterfly wings, butterfly tutu, and a butterfly wand.
Butterfly Birthday Cake
Butterfly Cake: Bake 9" round cake and one cupcake.
Cut cake in half. Place curved edges of the cut halves side by side. This should resemble butterfly wings. Frost the cake with white icing and decorate it with candies and gumdrops.
Place the cupcake above "the wings" to resemble butterfly's head. Place licorice for antennae and gumdrops for eyes.
Butterfly Food Ideas
  • Butterfly Bagels: Slice bagels in half. Split the halves again in the middle resulting in four half circles per bagel.
  • Butterfly Sandwich: Cut bread in the form of butterfly wings. Add a celery stick body, cherry tomato and carrot stick antennae. Put veggie pieces on the bread for "spots".
  • Butterfly Treats: Cut celery into small pieces. Fill them with peanut butter, cream cheese or other spread. Put a pretzel on each side of the celery to form wings. Use broken pretzel pieces for antennae and raisins for eyes.
  • Caterpillar Gelatin: Prepare gelatin according to directions on the package. Add gummy worms - so every gelatin cube has a caterpillar. And then refrigerate.

Butterfly Fairy Wings, Costume Dress Up Wings

Butterfly wings and fairy wings are a wonderful accessory for any little girl who loves dress up. It is amazing how much joy a little girl can get out of a simple inexpensive item such as fairy dress up wings. Her imagination will take flight as she lets her dress up wings carry her away into her Neverland. She can pretend to be a fairy or even a fairy princess and her adventures never seem to end.
Perhaps you remember what fun it was to be able to spend your day in imagination. What freedom it gives to anyone's mind to take that time and pretend. Our little ones seem to have it down pat. It's nice to know that small and simple things can add that important element to her growth. Whether it is a new set of wings for a Halloween dress up costume or just for everyday play it seems fairy wings are a hit that will last forever. There are so many different styles and colors with the butterfly wings and fairy wings these days that you can offer for your little fairy princess. Pink is of course a popular color for little girls but there are many who like rainbow fairy wings or even lavender or purple wings for their dress up costume. Perhaps they already want a variety so they have a color for each outfit. We all know that desire to have the right accessory for each outfit will start all too soon.
Think of the smiles you get to enjoy when she dawns her favorite butterfly wings and seems to fly off into her play land. A little boy might spend hours watching the bugs and exploring to see the butterflies in their element but your little girl will take it upon herself to become one of them at every opportunity dawning her wings often as soon as she wakes and perhaps changing her outfit several times a day. She will want to wear them to the shopping mall or even on a trip to the grocery store and why shouldn't she? She only gets to be a kid once. The rest of her life she will spend remembering the time and wishing she could go back.

Kids Butterfly Party Ideas

If your child loves butterflies, give her a party that centers on her favorite insect. Let the guest of honor participate with planning, choosing treats for the party favor bags, activities and cupcake centerpiece or butterfly cake. Make this a celebration that guests will say was over much too soon.
Invitations
Pass out or mail colorful invitations in the shape of butterflies with information on date, time and place of the party. Attach or include a magnetic butterfly to keep the invitation posted on the refrigerator as a reminder and let the birthday child decorate the envelopes with butterfly stamps.
Party Decorations
Cover the party table with butterfly-themed paper table cloths or a few yards of fabric printed with colorful butterflies. Table decorations include butterfly-shaped paper plates and butterfly-printed cups and napkins. Place cone-shaped butterfly printed hats and attach a butterfly-themed balloon at each chair at the table. Wall decorations can also include giant butterflies, butterfly streamers and nylon butterflies suspended from the ceiling. If the party is held at home, decorate the front door with a butterfly party door cover.
Party Favors
Create party favor bags with butterfly-themed goodies such as butterfly sunglasses, sun catchers, butterfly jewelry kits, rings and necklaces, butterfly wings, butterfly shaped lollipops, butterfly wands, temporary butterfly tattoos, fans and little butterfly bottles of bubbles. The guest of honor can hand the favor bags to each guest as they leave to go home at the end of the party.  Have the guest of honor dress up in a beautiful butterfly costume which includes butterfly wings, butterfly tutu skirt and a butterfly fairy wand.

Refreshments
Place decorated cupcakes with pastel colored frosting on a tiered serving tray with butterfly candle toppers as the centerpiece guests will enjoy last. Serve finger foods such as "Caterpillars in a blanket" (hot dog halves wrapped in a biscuit) with dipping sauce like ketsup or mustard and "Butterfly Pizza" (pizza cut with butterfly cookie cutter).
Activities
Have a few craft projects ready for young guests to make. These include a Butterfly Life Cycle art kit with embellishments, painting ceramic butterfly pots, decorating giant butterflies with stickers, making butterfly magnets or coloring fuzzy butterfly pictures. Add a little physical activity with a butterfly piñata filled with candy and treats guests can swing at with a stick.

Butterfly Birthday Party Theme - Butterfly Wings

Invitations
Send out butterfly shaped cards or plain white cards with butterfly stickers.  For fun tie butterfly shaped cards (with party information) onto curling ribbon and attach to a helium balloon. The invitation will seem to “fly” below the helium balloon.

Butterfly Party Decorations
Cut out large butterfly wings from colored paper and attach to Styrofoam bodies. Paint the bodies and add antennae and eyes - then hang from the ceiling with fishing line.
Cut green crepe paper streamers into 8 - 10” lengths - cut the strips into different lengths - and tape one end to tables so they hang down and look like grass.
On the birthday cake or present table cover the top of the table with a sunny yellow tablecloth. Make large colorful flower petals out
of construction paper or poster board and then tape the petals around the outside of the table to make a flower.
Add large artificial flowers all over the room (we’ve found super size flowers at the dollar store that were 12” wide).
Blow up helium balloons and tie them with long strings of curling ribbon. Attach butterflies, dragonflies or any flying bug to the end of the curling ribbon. Let the balloons float to the ceiling and the butterflies and bugs will “fly” around the party area.

Fun Ideas
Gather or buy cheap colorful silk scarves and let the party guests pretend they are flying using them as wings.
Set up a bubble blower and let them fly through the bubbles and pop them.
Butterfly Party Games
  • Butterfly Hunt
  • Buy butterfly nets and plastic butterflies (check the dollar store). Hide the butterflies all over the backyard (or inside the house) and have a butterfly hunt. Let them keep the butterfly net and the butterflies they find. Variation: Hide special butterflies around the yard which will earn the finder a special prize. Before the party buy several small items to use as prizes and assign them a number. On several of the butterflies that are hidden write a number that corresponds with the prize number. When a child finds a butterfly with a number they get the prize that matches that number.
  • Butterfly Cocoon TP Wrap
You’ll need 2 - 3 rolls of new toilet paper for each team.  Divide guests into teams of 3 to 4 players.  Each team chooses who will be the caterpillar (the one who gets wrapped up).  Give each team member - other then the caterpillar - a roll of toilet paper.   At the go signal teams have to wrap up their caterpillar in the toilet paper as quick as they can. The team that uses all of it’s toilet paper first wins. Hint: Use the cheap single rolls of toilet paper.)
  • Elphin Game
The store bought game that has an elephant who blows out butterflies from his trunk. Kids try and catch the butterflies with their nets. Lots of fun for younger children.
  • Butterfly Nature Scavenger Hunt
This is a fun game for the yard or park. Divide guests into 2 teams (or if there are more then 10 guests 3 - 4 teams).

Activities
Make butterfly wings, or have them already pre-made or buy them and let the girls decorate the wings at the party.

Buy wooden butterfly shapes at the craft store. Let the girls paint them with glittery paint of all colors, then when dry they can stick on jewels. Place a magnet strip on the back for a pretty refrigerator magnet.

Bake cookies and cut them out with a butterfly cookie cutter. Let the guests decorate their butterflies with frosting, candies and writing gel. This can also take the place of a large cake.

Make fun antennae with headbands, pipe cleaners and pom pom balls. Let them take them home for a party favor.

Food
Fun Jell-O jigglers cut with a cookie cutter into butterfly shapes.
Sandwiches cut with cookie cutters.
Honey Bee crackers.
Bow tie pasta - it looks like butterfly wings!
Cheese (cut with butterfly cookie cutter) and crackers.
Make dirt / garden cupcakes. Fill individual cupcake liners 1/2 way with chocolate pudding. Crush Oreo cookies and sprinkle them on top of the chocolate pudding to fill the liners. Place gummy worms in the cupcakes and a pretty plastic flower on top. This a also a fun activity for the party goers to make!

Butterfly Party Favors
Butterfly or flower shaped lip gloss kits.
Bright nail polish.
Flower pens.
The butterfly wings, scarves or antennae can be given as the butterfly party favor.
Butterfly nets.
Pretty decorated butterfly shaped cookies tied in cellophane.
Bubbles

Goody Bags
Canvas totes decorated with butterflies. Squares of netting wrapped around the party favors and tied with a pretty ribbon always makes a fun goody bag.

Plan The Perfect Baby Shower - Butterfly Diaper Cakes

Oh, so pretty!  Simple but elegant, this pink butterfly diaper cake for girls is absolutely gorgeous!  The diapers are not rolled, but fanned around a center core and wrapped in a dark pink ribbon edged in white.
A baby shower done all in pink and white would be amiss not to have this diaper cake as a baby shower centerpiece.  I think it’s the most graceful cake I’ve seen.

It would look wonderful on a pink table cloth, with pink and white balloons and Mylar baby balloons.  Add some bunches of white flowers, and a white and pink cake and you’re in business.
This butterfly diaper cake is made with 40 disposable diapers in two layers and topped with white knit baby booties with a bejeweled butterfly applique.
There’s also a baby t-shirt with the same butterfly applique which is the decoration you see for the second tier.
Pink confetti paper looks like sugar frosting on all of the layers and a simple, white bow graces the middle of the bottom tier.
The diaper cake comes wrapped in tulle.  Frankly, it’s just too pretty to pull apart, don’t you think?

Butterfly Theme - Butterfly Baby Shower Theme

A butterfly theme guarantees a baby shower or a birthday party theme that has an airy, natural look that has the potential to be very colorful. For a party that is both natural and popping with color, a butterfly baby shower theme might be the perfect foundation for your party's decor.
Picture party supplies, tableware and decorations with bright, colorful butterfly graphics printed on them. And if that's not enough, personalized wall banners covered in butterflies including an announcement of the guest of honor's due date or birthday greetings for the entryway should do the trick.
If you feel that butterflies on their own need a little boost to make them more interesting, it's not unusual for a hostess to add additional layers to the theme. For instance you could jazz things up by combining your butterfly theme with a garden fairies theme. Imagine a party decorated with both butterflies, fairies with centerpieces and cakes decorated with fairy wings and butterflies. That's just one idea for many of the creative butterfly baby shower decorating ideas that are possible with this theme.
Butterfly parties are traditionally best in spring and summer. If the weather cooperates and it’s nice enough you may be able to hold the party out of doors. Check to see if you might take advantage of a friend’s butterfly garden. It would be lovely to have some real butterflies in addition to your other butterfly party supplies.
If the party is planned during the daylight hours, lots of fluffy tulle secured on the chair backs in "puffs" or layered as tablecloths would keep the light and airy look of your butterfly theme going. Consider decorating in colors of a Monarch or any other butterfly that you select and sticking with that color scheme throughout the room.
If the party is held outdoors during the evening, lanterns with butterfly motifs would make a lovely centerpiece on each table and strings of patio lights decorated with silk butterflies will make the room sparkle and give your party the look of an exotic garden.

Tips For Finding Discount Girls Baby Shower Decorations

Shower your mom to be with these decorations!
When you’re throwing a baby shower, finding discount baby shower supplies can be difficult if you don’t use a little foresight and planning. It’s especially easy to go overboard when buying or making baby girl shower decorations as everything is so adorable. That makes it hard to choose and if you’re not careful it’s easy to have your baby shower looking like a frilly pink nightmare.
Baby shower party supplies can be done in a variety of ways. Traditionally, baby girl shower decorations are lacy and flowery. If themed, most people lean towards the traditional ducks, butterflies or cartoon characters such as the ever popular Disney characters.
First and foremost you need balloons and streamers. They are placed outside the house as a guide for guests to help direct them to the correct residence and of course inside because what would any party be without balloons and dangling streamers? Generally, you want the baby shower party supplies to stick with a theme.
One cute touch for baby girl shower decorations is the sock rosebush. Using pink and/or white baby socks roll them up tightly; they will resemble small roses; then using wire, attach them to “stems” of wooden skewers and stick them down into pots you’ve spray painted pink and filled with green florists Styrofoam.
Discount baby shower supplies can also be found online. With a little online legwork, you should have no problem finding your baby shower party supplies. Baby girl shower decorations bring out the softie in all of us so have fun with it but make sure not to overdo the fluff.

Butterfly Baby Shower Favor Decorations

Butterfly Decorations
As beautiful as gel candles are, they are not as popular as wax candles. In the baby showers where the favors are gel candles people are amazed at how beautiful they are and yet they don't see many of them around. Under different lighting the gel candles can take on an appearance of a celestial water paradise. In the sun the appearance turns in an aqua bubbling world of beauty.

Butterfly Decorations
Beautiful Butterfly Candle Decorations

When creating the candle favors one can control the amount of bubbles desired by the temperature to which you heat the gel. This baby shower candle was created for a mom-to-be that had a passion for butterflies. Everything at the baby shower was butterfly related and most of the baby gifts all had butterfly theme.

Butterfly Baby Shower Invitation Ideas

Butterflies on the Baby Shower Invitations
Butterfly DecorationsOne of the most common uses of butterfly images is on baby shower invitations. This makes perfect sense since the birth of a baby coincides with the beautiful imagery of a caterpillar being born into a butterfly as it enters the world as a delicate and beautiful creature. Both pink butterflies and blue butterflies make wonderful decorations on baby shower invitations. If you know the gender of the baby and prefer to use traditional colors for each gender, then obviously the pink butterfly would be for the girls, and the blue would be for the boys. However some people like to go non-traditional and use pink or blue for both, which is also acceptable. Party experts also suggest inserting a copy of the ultrasound picture of the baby in with each invitation. It really excites people to actually see the baby, and it provides encouragement for people to attend the baby shower and take part.

Flower Power Birthday Party How-To

Bouncy and bright! Balloons and flowers are the theme for this backyard birthday party.
Nestled in the clearing of any backyard is a birthday-girl's dream garden: A lawn-blanket meadow grows in the center; colorful balloon blossoms, Botanicus rubberous, line its borders, and the sweet fragrance of cupcakes fills the air. A floral-themed birthday party features all of these delights, and it isn't difficult or expensive to pull off.
Invitation How-To
Hint at the party's theme with balloon invitations. To make, punch six holes in a store bought card -- one in the center and five surrounding it. Starting at the center, weave a long balloon through the holes; tie them off inside the card and trim excess. Thread a green balloon through four punched holes to make a stem and leaf.
Butterfly DecorationsFlower Balloon How-To These giant balloon blooms are easy for a parent to make. You'll need regular 5-, 11-, or 16-inch round balloons. Fill them with regular air or with helium (rent a tank for this). Before you attempt to make balloon art with helium-filled balloons, it's a good idea to practice on ones filled with ordinary air, so any slip-ups won't fly away. Don't blow up the balloons fully; leaving a little slack will keep them flexible enough to turn and twist without popping. To tie off balloons, pinch the necks with one hand; with the other hand, pull the neck of the balloon to stretch it, wrap it around two of your fingers, and pull the end through to make a knot. If you can, make at least one flower for every guest, since the kids will surely want to take them home. 1. For the petals, you will need five balloons that are the same color and size. Inflate the balloons, comparing each to the first one so they match in size. If you are using helium, place the balloons in a plastic bag held under a table so they won't float away. 2. Tie two of the balloons together: Stretch their knotted necks to make them easier to tie. There's no need to knot them tightly, since they will naturally hold together as you manipulate them around. Set aside. 3. Next, tie the remaining three inflated balloons together: First tie two of them together as described in step 2, then tie on the third. 4. Join the two balloon clusters: Push the pair into the set of three so the necks wrap around each other. 5. Lock the two clusters together by rotating the necks of the balloons around each other several times until secure. Don't worry about the balloons popping. They're more durable than you might think. Set the petals aside. 6. For the center, inflate two balloons of a different color; use balloons that are the same size as the ones used to make the petals, but fill them with less air so they are slightly smaller. Tie the two balloons together. 7. Repeat steps 4 and 5 to insert the two balloons into the prepared cluster. Arrange the petals around the centers, twisting balloons several times to lock them all together. 8. Be sure the two balloons that make up the center are positioned correctly; the cluster should look like a flower whether viewed from the back or the front. 9. Wrap nylon string around the center of the cluster several times, changing direction to keep balloons well bound. To finish, pull one end of the string between two of the petals and cut off the other end. This will keep the flowers floating upright. 10. If using helium, tie the end of the string to a weight, such as a rock, or to a garden stake that you can plant in the grass. If using air, hang the balloon flowers from overhead. Favor How-To For favors, fill pails (available at party-supply stores) with candy and give each a paper daisy with a lollipop poked through its center.

Little Girls Birthday Party Ideas

Butterfly DecorationsThrowing a little girl party is fun. Girls love to have parties and hand out invitations to their friends. They also like to have goodies to give to their friends that attend the party, so you’ll want goody bags and these are generally done in the theme of the party. So now you have to decide with the help of your little lady what kind of party she will be having, whether it be for her birthday or just a fun girls day. Here are some ideas: Little Girl Party Idea 1: Princess Party Princess Parties are always a hit. Get some inexpensive little crowns and some pretend makeup for the girls that will be attending this party that is designed for four to ten year old's. There are some things you will need for this party and each girl will get to dress up as a princess to go with the theme. The girls can do each others hair and wear little crowns. During the princess party you can have a parade with your princesses and have them dance. Little Girl Party Idea 2: Tea Party Tea Parties are a lot of fun and can be incorporated into birthday parties as well. You will need a tea set (you can actually have tea if you like). If your child is around four or so then a tea party with their teddy bears and dolls will be nice for them. (They can have friends over with their teddy bears too just make sure you have enough room for them to sit.) You will needs some gloves, hats and costume jewelry for the girls that are going to attend. The table can have flowers in the center or a teapot for this party. Little Girl Party Idea 3: Pajama Party Pajama Party Pajama parties are a great alternative for girls that are not old enough for sleepover yet. The girls all arrive in their pajamas and get to play various party games. These parties only last for a few hours so some small snacks and simple games are sufficient since these are normally limited to three or four children. Little Girl Party Idea 4: Slumber Party Slumber parties are typically better for girls over the age of eight. These will last all night so be prepared. A movie for them to watch depending on their age is good for keeping them calm for a few hours. Junk food is the normal path taken here. Although you might like to give the guest the option of fruit as well to keep them from ending up with tummy aches in the end because while they may not want to you are going to want them to go to sleep. These are some of the most basic party ideas for little girls. When planning a party for your little girl it is important to plan far enough in advance that you know what you are in for before the big day. There are some things such as inviting the guest that has to be done in advance. You can either purchase or make invitations for you child to give to those she is inviting that are based on the theme. These can be as simple as card stock with a design for the party placed on them. Decorations are needed for parties as well. The decorations will be dependent on the theme as to whether or not you have streamers, posters or whatever you choose to decorate with.
Butterfly DecorationsLittle Girl Party Idea 5: Buggerific Party My family and I just celebrated my daughters 3rd birthday! We arranged to have our party outdoors. One game we played towards the end of our party, which the children enjoyed playing a Scavenger Hunt for Bugs! We scattered large bugs all over our yard, lady bugs, crickets, centipedes, any kind of toy bug I can pick up from local stores, hiding them in the grass, by the trees, on bushes! The toy bugs also decorated our backyard for the entire party! Another game pass the bumble bee around when the music stops you've been stung! You can pick up at any local store an insect of your choice. Decorate your area with butterflies, dragonflies, ladybugs and bees go to Bugs-n-Blooms for beautifully made bugs! They are so beautiful you may want to keep them up in your child's play area or bedroom!
