If finding a ladybug in your home brings you luck, why not make them a permanent part of a room’s design? Ladybug decorations are versatile and colorful, and they can bring a positive vibe to a variety of spaces.
With their basic red and black color scheme, ladybugs are perfect for the basis of a playroom. Ladybug mobiles may hang from the ceilings, or ladybugs can be used as curtain tiebacks, too. Use red and black stickers to spell your child’s name, and choose red and black storage crates to keep toys from going astray.
Of course, ladybugs can also be paired with similar beautiful creatures in your decorating scheme. Butterfly decor will be complementary, as will dragonfly decorations. Flowers are likely to have a place in the room, too.
Such a playroom can give a jumpstart to your child’s imagination. Encourage your child to create a story about ladybugs. Give your child a chest full of ladybug-themed dress-up clothes, like red or black leotards, glittery red wings and tutu skirts.
Ladybug themes can also be appropriate for other small rooms, such as bathrooms, kitchens and laundry or utility rooms. The splash of color they provide can have a major impact in a small space.
Ladybugs also make a great theme for a child’s birthday party. You can decorate with red and black streamers and tablecloths and bake a ladybug cake or cupcakes for the big moment.
Be creative with games like Pin the Spot on the Ladybug, or hide a stuffed ladybug and give the guest who finds it a special prize. Be sure that every guest gets a mini-ladybug to take home, too!

Names, motivational quotes and descriptive adjectives can all have their place in a child’s room thanks to alphabet wall stickers. These decorative touches are versatile and functional, and at the same time, they can integrate seamlessly with the rest of a room’s design.
Alphabet stickers can be used in many ways. For example, they may add to the color theme of a room. Red and black alphabet stickers can be used to complement a room with a number of ladybug decorations.
Similarly, the stickers can incorporate design elements from the rest of the room. Alphabet stickers embellished with butterflies are an excellent addition to a room in which butterfly decor is prominent.
Alphabet stickers are useful tools, as well. Children love to have their names emblazoned on their doors or walls. Using alphabet stickers to spell out your child’s name emphasizes that the room is his or her special space.
You can even label different sections of the room with alphabet stickers. Point out the play area, dressing room and reading nook by placing those words on the wall.
Inspire your child by using alphabet stickers to write an uplifting message on your child’s wall. A child who wakes up and sees encouraging words on the wall will carry that motivation throughout the rest of his or her day.
Removable alphabet stickers can be rotated in accordance with changing seasons or holidays. Combine the stickers with appropriate decorations to give the space an updated, seasonal flair.
Alphabet stickers can be used in combination with other stickers, too. Create a mural with stickers of clouds, sunshine, flowers and butterflies, dragonflies or ladybugs, and as a final touch, put your child’s name on the wall in an arc of alphabet stickers.

If you’re looking for a unique decorative theme that can be incorporated in rooms throughout your house, think red and black: ladybugs.
Of course, ladybug decorations are appealing embellishments for a playroom, child’s bedroom or nursery. The bright red and black will appeal to an infant, and you can hang a ladybug mobile from the ceiling to capture your baby’s attention. For older children, ladybugs can be part of a broader insect garden theme in a playroom or bedroom. Pair ladybug wall stickers with garlands of butterfly wings and add in a bumblebee or two for a representation of a variety of insects.
Ladybug decorations aren’t just kids’ play, though. You can build a kitchen or bathroom around these colorful creatures, too. Select tea towels and potholders with embroidered ladybugs, and add red and black utensils and casual plates and glasses to complete the look. Include butterfly decorations, such as mini nylon butterflies or butterfly magnets, to mix things up a bit, too.
Bathrooms can be beautified with ladybugs, too. Choose a soap dish and toothbrush holder painted with ladybugs or choose plain white accessories and do a DIY decorating job. Hang a ladybug shower curtain, and you can use red and black hand towels, wash cloths and bath towels to coordinate with your powder room or bathroom ladybug theme.
Don’t forget that ladybugs are considered to be symbols of good fortune, so you may be bringing a little luck into your home if you work these darling red and black creatures into your design. You can tuck a small ladybug decoration away in a hidden corner in each room of the house to enhance your blessings.

Bugs-n-Blooms Adds New Line of Ladybug Dress Up Clothing
Prosper, Texas – December 13, 2010 – Bugs-n-Blooms, LLC, a leading supplier of whimsical garden themed room decor and dress-up clothing, is pleased to announce the addition of a new line of ladybug themed dress-up clothing due out in early January 2011. The fun and brightly colored new ladybug designs include red ladybug dress-up wings, along with matching red tutus and coordinating red headbands. These items are made in a similar fashion to other feminine dress-up clothing offered by Bugs-n-Blooms. The ladybug wings are designed using a delicate yet durable soft nylon material in ladybug-inspired shades of red, accented by glitter, shimmer and glitz.
Ladybug wings are not new to the product line offered by Bugs-n-Blooms. The company has been offering a selection of ladybug wing room decor for some time now, in addition to its ever-popular line of butterfly wings and butterfly-themed decor. What is new, however, is that ladybug wings can now be used for more than simply room decor. The new line of ladybug dress-up wings can be paired with a bouncy red tutu to create a bit of inspired playtime magic. The ensemble can also be topped off with an adorable red headband to create a complete ladybug costume.
“The garden offers so many beautiful and inspiring ideas for decorating little girls’ rooms and creating feminine dress-up items,” explains Jennifer DeVol, owner of Bugs-n-Blooms. “Young girls love butterflies, of course, but there is a certain magic associated with ladybugs – and we just couldn’t pass up the opportunity to bring a bit of that ‘ladybug magic’ to our customers.” The delicate ladybug wings with matching red tutus and headbands make great Halloween costumes and are also perfect for everyday dress-up fun.
The new line of ladybug wings and red tutus are due out shortly after the New Year. They will add to an already expansive offering of butterfly wings and tutus in a variety of enticing colors, accented by sequins, glitter, ribbon, shimmer and flowers. “We can’t wait to see the reactions from our customers to these fun new products,” says DeVol. “Red tutus and ladybug wings will be a warm and inviting sight on a cold winter’s day!”

When picking the theme for your child’s next birthday party, go with something as cute as a bug—a ladybug! Red and black colors can serve as the background for a host of ladybug decorations, such as mobiles, garlands and hanging decorations. Ladybug decorations can be used for both indoor and outdoor parties. You may also consider adding a few butterfly or dragonfly decorations into the mix to create an entire insect garden setting!
You can pers onalize the party by including a banner or sign that features your child’s name decorated in the ladybug motif. Let your guests take a piece of the party home with favors like ladybug stickers or ladybug fairy wands or even small stuffed ladybugs.
The ladybug theme can be extended to the food, too. Many bakeries offer ladybug cakes or cupcakes, or you could try your hand at making your own. Mixtures of red and black licorice or other candies will be a nice touch, too.
Ladybug decorations and favors can pave the way for bug-themed activities and games as well. Put a new spin on an old classic by turning Pin the Tail on the Donkey into Pin the Antenna on the Ladybug, for example.
Don’t forget that ladybugs are often considered to be a sign of luck. A party based on the red-and-black creatures can spread the good fortune around to your child and her friends.

A bug-themed party makes a fun and unique birthday party. It is a great opportunity to teach children about insects and spark their interest in science. Bug birthday parties do not have to cost much, and they can be a lot of fun for both parents and children.
Decorations
For younger children, it is better to use dragonfly, butterfly, or ladybug decorations that are less “scary.” Older children might enjoy grasshopper and spider decorations as well. It would also be fun to get the children involved with designing and setting up the ladybug decorations themselves with the assistance of adults.
The best place to hold a bug birthday party would be outside, to create more interaction with nature. Napkins with bug designs printed or drawn on them and plastic bugs placed on table covers can spice up the table.
Games
“Pin the spider on the web” could be a modified version of “pin the tail on the donkey.” Just use a web drawn on a poster board and a spider instead of the donkey’s tail. The child who gets closest to the middle of the web, wins.
Another fun game called “run ants run!” would have one child selected as a leader and the rest of the kids would follow the leader around the yard. Minor obstacles can be set up around the yard like cones. Whichever action that the leader performs, the rest of the children have to follow. When the leader yells “run!” the children have to run back to a designated home area before the leader tags them. The last remaining child wins the game.
Food
There are several food ideas you may wish to include. There’s the traditional and simple “ants on a log,” which are celery stalks filled with peanut butter and topped with raisins. Butterfly or other insect-shaped crackers can be used with some type of meat and/or cheese.
There are also several bug candies that can be used, such as gummy worms or spiders. Gummy worms can be mixed with crushed Oreos in a cup for a “worms in dirt” treat. Drinks might include “bug juice punch” which can be as easy as mixing orange juice with green food coloring.
For a bug-themed birthday party, get a bug-shaped cake. Bug cupcakes can be made from something as simple as a regular cupcake decorated with two pretzels for butterfly wings and some frosting for a butterfly body and head.

The following blog was posted by a customer of ours, and is so adorable, we just had to share it with you:

“It’s birthday party week! Last Saturday, we threw Lila’s first birthday party (she turns one on the 28th, but due to scheduling conflicts we celebrated a bit early!). So this week is a series of party posts!
The inspiration for the party theme? Her nickname. We’ve been calling her Lila Bug since she was born. Only made sense to have a Lila-Bug themed 1st birthday party! And we knew it had to be colorful.
The greatest thing about this party was how much help we had pulling it off. EVERYONE pitched in – - which was truly wonderful. So thank you to all of our family and friends!

I have to say that I got a lot of ideas for the party from the TomKat Studio’s blog. Kim does some AMAZING things at her parties and always posts the most beautiful pictures! It’s a great place to browse ideas and choose the ones that work within your time limits and budget. The idea for the marshmallow bug pops came from her post on her daughter Kate’s third birthday party. I just added some black licorice for antennas. The handy step-by-step instructions on the Hostess with the Mostess blog were really helpful, too!

Even though I would have loved to be able to slave over some of the handmade paper items that appeared at Lila’s party (well, maybe… could be the mom guilt setting in), I simply don’t have enough hours in the day. Enter Etsy. If you haven’t had a chance to check out this ebay-type site for makers of handmade things and those that love to buy ‘em, you should. I found tons of sellers that handcraft adorable birthday banners and signs. A quick email to Kelly at Burley Girl Designs and I had a gorgeous ladybug happy birthday banner and door sign!

Although I usually like to use local vendors for things, print costs are often high. Online shops are usually more economic — and TinyPrints has been my online savior for all things stationary. I worked via email with a designer to customize the text on one of their ready-to-pint designs, added a photo of Lila, and the invites arrived via mail in about 7 days. Didn’t they turn out cute?

Last but not least (in terms of the design!), were the ladybug centerpieces. I had seen the wheatgrass/gerbera daisy centerpieces while perusing the Hostess with the Mostess blog’s cute post on a Modern Ladybug Party Theme. I sent the photo to John at The Cutting Garden in Westminster, and he came up with a Baptisia greens/Gerber daisy version. I added the nylon pink and green ladybugs – - ordered from Bugs-n-Blooms online.”

When you think about little boys playing outdoors on a spring day–picking up bugs and trying to catch butterflies — it is a moment of precious childhood that you never forget. Consider bringing the outdoors in by decorating your son’s room with bumblebees, butterflies, and ladybug decorations so your little one can let his imagination soar.
Mini ladybug decorations are adorable little creatures, covered in nylon with a wire frame, that are soft and bendable. You can put all the mini bugs on the wall or scatter them throughout the room. They can be put on a doorknob with a loop or dangled from the ceiling with a piece of fishing line. They can be mixed and matched with other little bugs to convert a little boy’s room into an (indoor) outdoor wonderland.
Hanging ladybug room decorations are larger than the mini bugs, but they are also soft and bendable with hand-painted black dots and glitter on the wings for a special touch. Your little one will welcome the smiling ladybugs into his collection. Put them on the wall or hang them from the ceiling.
One great decorating idea is to create a 3D outdoor wall mural. Start with a bright blue sky background adding clouds, green grass, a bright smiling sun, and even a pond. You can add a huge 3D tree, and don’t forget the little bugs that all boys love, as well as frogs, reptiles, and birds. How about including a picture of your little one sitting on a tree swing? This idea can be as exciting as you make it. Ask your little man to help with the painting. Adding his special touch will make it a fun time to spend together and he will be excited and proud of his accomplishment.
Another great addition is to add stuffed birds, frogs, and other soft and fuzzy animals. Stuffed animal shaped chairs make a cozy little area for your young man’s personal space.
No room would be complete without coordinated bedding. Bright, cheerful colors with matching throw rugs and curtains can transform any room without much effort. Big fluffy comforters with matching curtains are a must to complete any boy’s room. Ladybug curtain tiebacks add pizzazz to an already amazing room. This little accessory can even make a plain set of curtains fun and exciting.
Consider adding different animal wall stickers, hanging bugs, or bend the ladybugs so they can sit on a shelf or a nightstand. You can affix them to the headboard or sit them on the dresser. Let your imagination go to work as you create the perfect space for your special little boy.
