Tutu skirts: A versatile addition to your child’s wardrobe

Think that tutu skirts are just for ballerinas? Think again. The beautiful tulle and satin creations can be worn in a variety of ways for any number of occasions. Tutus complete costumes ranging from fairies to butterflies or they can be used as regular attire. Designed in sizes to fit girls of all ages, tutus are an option for babies, toddlers, and even older tots.

Tutu skirts are a perfect choice for a dress-up party, whether you’re hosting it at your house or your daughter is attending a friend’s event. Choose a tutu that features embellishments designed especially for the occasion, like flowers, sparkles, gems, ribbons or sequins. Pair the tutu with a slim bodice or leotard to accentuate the skirt’s shape and showcase the tutu as the outfit’s centerpiece.

You don’t always need a special occasion to wear a tutu. Even regular play dates and individual play can be transformed with the addition of a tutu skirt. Your daughter can fantasize about life as a garden fairy, beautiful butterfly or fairy princess when she wears her special skirt. Add a fairy wand and wings and a special headband, and the effect will be complete. Baby Shower Planning Includes Baby Shower Decorating!

Baby Shower Decorations can be purchased or handmade. A combination of the two often works the best. The trick is to make it as attractive as possible and not go over your budget. This isn’t easy!

Here are some great ways to decorate the room where the baby shower is being held:

You can decorate the walls and tables with baby hand and foot prints, butterflies, flowers, ladybugs or any other item that follows your theme. Here is a beautiful example of How to decorated your baby shower with products from Bugs-n-Blooms!

You can purchase some streamers from your local Dollar Store and string them from corner to corner. To add a little more decorations to the streamers hang some baby item pictures such as rattles, bibs, highchairs, cribs, building blocks, cars, tractors, etc.
Take some fairly strong string and attach baby items such as baby socks, bibs, soothers, teething rings, rattles, washcloths, onesies, small teddies, etc. and attach securely to the wall from corner to corner.
Receiving blankets could be used as table clothes or burping clothes could be used as placemats and a diaper cake would make a great centerpiece.
Purchase plates, cups, napkins and utensils in the theme or color of the baby shower.
Fresh flower bouquets always add a nice touch!
Balloons – the choices here are unlimited – you can purchase balloons with baby shower designs already printed on them, you can string up colorful balloons around the house or if you happen to be good at balloon art you can create many items to decorate the room (rattle, hearts, animals).
Have everyone attending the shower bring a baby picture of themselves or their children and when they arrive pin the pictures to one wall. This could later be used as an activity, ‘Guess whose baby picture this is?’
Banners – you can purchase or make your own banner, for example ‘Congratulations!’ or “It’s a Boy!”

As you can see, you can put as little or as much effort into decorating for your baby shower as time and your budget allows. Decorating definitely helps make the theme obvious and creates a more exciting atmosphere!

A Garden-Themed Playroom

Give your child a garden-themed playroom where they can play for hours and let their imagination run wild. You can create a space filled with darling bug decorations, floral embellishments, and butterflies galore.

You’ll want to begin by choosing the flower and plant decorations that will provide the garden’s foundation. You may opt to paint blades of grass or other greenery on the walls. Give “wall flower” a new meaning by stenciling large stems on the walls and toppping them off with flower stickers. Flower mobiles will create a nice overhead effect, and floral curtain tiebacks will underscore the theme. Nylon flowers hung along the walls will complete the look. Use sun and cloud stickers or hangings near the ceiling to give the room another realistic touch.

After you’ve created this floral wonderland, it’s time to pick out the creatures that will dwell there. You can’t have a garden without bees, can you? In real gardens, the bees provide the workforce that pollinates the beautiful plants, so they should be represented in your garden-style playroom, too. Work bees into the room by placing bumblebee stickers among your “wall flowers,” and scatter an army of mini bumblebees throughout the space.

Lucky ladybugs are often found tiptoeing through the flowers, and it’s easy to incorporate them into your design, as well. Select from a variety of ladybug decorations, and include items of different sizes and styles. Add some texture to the room by choosing ladybug decorations that feature glitter or shimmer effects.

Butterflies are always a favorite, and a butterfly room will keep your child occupied for hours. The choices for butterfly decor are nearly endless. You can start with large nylon butterflies and then go on to select embellishments like ribbons, simulated gems, crystals, pearls and rainbows. Butterfly garlands and mobiles hanging from the ceiling can create an illusion of flight. Dragonfly decorations can serve a similar purpose, too.

Give the room a personalized touch by posting your child’s name on the wall using letters decorated with flowers, butterflies, or ladybugs, or whatever her favorite garden element is.
